Clean Feed is very proud to announce a great batch of new
releases.
This one has been an amazing year for the label with very
good sales (thanks to you all) and most of all with great music as we believe
it.So, a brief introduction by myself of each record.
CF 283 - Pascal Niggenkemper's Vision 7 - Lucky PrimeLe créme de la créme of european jazz these days. Much
more than newcomers, this septet is a group of leading forces in their home
countries and coming strongly abroad from now on. Recorded at the Loft, Cologne
(Studio + Live sessions). Open up for Pascal Niggenkemper, Frank Gratkowski,
Emilie Lesbros, Eve Risser,Frantz Loriot, Els Vandeweyer, Christian Lillinger.
CF 284 - Angles 9 - In Our MidstPlaying together as a nonet for the first time in the great
Kunstencentrum in Hasselt, Belgium, this one became a legendary show for the
ones that were there and now for all of us. Great renditions of already
recorded material by one of the best live bands I've ever see. Second Clean
Feed LP coming out.
CF 285 - Anna Kaluza/Artur Majewski/Rafal Mazur/Kuba Suchar - Tone HuntingWhat does the good Polish jazz have that you can't hear
anywhere in the world ? Centainly connected to the new paths opened up by artists
as Kristof Komeda and Tomasz Stanko, these take this kind of national trade
mark in a perfect blend of bebop, free forms, west coast jazz and free
improvisation.
CF 286 - Kaja Draksler - The Lives of Many OthersMaybe you don't know much or even nothing about Kaja
Draksler but let me tell you how gifted this 27 year old Slovene piano player
living in Amsterdam is. This solo act will sound as impressive to you as to me,
I'm sure. You will be strucked by the control, imagination, focusing, freedom of
Kaja Draksler. Someday soon I won't have to introduce her again.
CF 287 - Angelica Sanchez / Wadada Leo Smith - Twine
Forest
Rehearsing, playing and recording together through recent
years, Wadada Leo Smith and Angelica Sanchez reached a level of understading,
spiritual connection, sound, textures and beautiful melodies make this record a
mandatory one, I believe. We prepared this very special release for quite
sometime to bring you a beautiful layout around what really matters, the
challenging and beautiful music recorded at the top studio for piano recordings
in Brooklyn, NY, Systems Two.
CF 288 - Elliott Sharp Aggregat - Quintet
If the first Aggregat Trio record with Brad Jones and Ches
Smith, showed Elliott Sharp leaving the guitar behind, this time he left it
out for the whole session playing just reeds. And what great playing,
what great writing and genorosity in the quintet. You'll be really surprised by
the music in this CD. Sharp wrote very open tunes and opened up the trio into a
classic pianoless quintet augmented by Terry L. Green on trombone and Nate
Wooley on trumpet. One can feel there's space for everyone in the music and
their identities as artists really come out.
SHH 006 - Joana Sá - In Praise of Desorder
In my opinion Joana Sá is the most remarkable artist of any
kind to come out of Portugal in recent years. Meticulous, creatve, open, she
build her own language as composer and pianist. This is not just a solo piano
album, here she's going through her normal process of exploring the limits of
the instrument and her imagination either using the instrument as a drum,
electronic device or just the melodic part of it. Uncategorized as all of her
work, "In Praise of Desorder" is something not to be missed at all.
